Irish office workers struggle with back problems

example office 222There is an increase in the number of days missed due to back problems in office workers, which some researchers are suggesting may be caused, or at least influenced, by using office chairs which are not the correct height for the individual.

“Every persons height, especially torso height, and the height of the workstation should be taken into account when determining the setting for the chair they are using” suggests Derek Madden CEO of Madden Health and Safety Management Ltd. “Many people are sitting in chairs for up to eight hours a day, which are incorrectly set for the persons dimensions, leading to a strain on their hands and arms, which may ultimately lead to back problems.”
