About Us

healthandsafetymanager.ie was founded in 2006 by Derek Madden. Having worked for various organisations ranging from Pharmaceutical to Distribution and Agriculture to Insurance, Derek realised that while most large companies were able to employ a fulltime Health and Safety specialist, smaller companies simply could not afford to.

However the catch 22 for these smaller companies is that they still need to comply with the requirement of Law, Insurance and their Moral obligations. It is out of this situation that healthandsafetymanager.ie was born. The specific goal of healthandsafetymanager.ie is to work with Employers to help them comply with all of their obligations. This starts off with properly customised Safety Statements and progresses on to our shared online H&S data base. The database is one of our strongest tools, as the experience of all our clients is shared across the system.

Derek and his team are also there to assist in any specialist areas or even just to give a reassuring word when needed. Derek has been working in the area of Occupational Health, Safety and the Environment since 1993.  Derek is a member of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) and is a registered safety practitioner. He is also a member of the Institute of Project Management in Ireland and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
