The healthandsafetymanager.ie Fire Warden training programme aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to follow and initiate appropriate fire safety procedures and emergency responses.

 

Overview of Modules

 

Module 1: Fire Safety Legislation

1.1 The Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act 2005

1.2 Fire services act 1981

 

Module 2: Dealing with fire and emergencies

2.1 The nature of fire

2.2 Risk assessment

2.3 Common fire hazards

2.4 Facing the fire

2.5 Extinguishing the fire

2.6 Marshals/Wardens

2.7 Evacuation

 

Module 4: Recall and validation

4.1 Demonstration and written validation

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this programme, participants will:

 

Þ    Be aware of their responsibilities under fire safety legislation

Þ    Be aware of the employer’s duties under fire safety legislation

Þ    Understand the nature of fire

Þ    Be aware of the fire safety facilities that exist in their own building

Þ    Be familiar with their building’s emergency control procedure

Þ    Know what to do if a fire breaks out

Þ    Know how to evacuate quickly and calmly

Þ    Know how to use a fire extinguisher and how to choose the correct one

 

Programme Duration         3 Hours

 

Who should attend?           All employees who have been designated as fire wardens and any managers/supervisors who have control over a particular workspace or area.

 

Please note; this training programme requires a site visit by our trainer in advance of the training taking place, in order to customise part of the programme contents.
