Purpose:     

 

 

To equip participants with the necessary Knowledge, Skills and Competency to fully assess the manual handling risks within the respective organisation, provide training to employees at all levels protect the company, thereby protecting the company from litigation or official sanction thereby increasing the general safety health and welfare of the workforce.

 

Objectives: At the end of this course participants will be able to:

ü      Explain the principles of manual handling to fellow employees.

ü      Carry out effective risk assessments on manual handling operations.

ü      Assist in the control and reduction of risk.

ü      Understand the legal aspects of Manual Handling issues.

ü      Design and deliver effective and relevant Manual Handling Training programmes.

ü      Help protect the company against litigation and official sanction.

Module 3        Manual Handling Regulations

Module 4        Designing Training Programmes

Module 5        Training Preparation and Delivery

Module 6        Manual Handling assessment and the MAC tool

Module 7        How the body works

Module 8        General Health and Safety Legislation

Module 9        Evaluating Training

Module 10      Recall and Planning

 

Timing:          This course is normally delivered over 5 days

 

Method:        This a highly interactive program consisting of 10 modules delivered over 5 days. Practice, games, individual & group exercises, practical demonstration, video and computer modelling are all used to reinforce learning.

 

                        Recall exercises are carried out at the end of modules 1-9 with a final programme recall in Module 10.
